| The Luna moth is not particularly uncommon, but it seems that I rarely see them. During the spring I was out with my 4x5 view camera and spotted this specimen resting on the trunk of a large cottonwood. Setting up the view camera is certainly not a quick operation, and therefore it is not the traditional wildlife camera. To further complicate the situation, macro photography such as this requires a few additional exposure calculations that slowed the process even more. On this occasion, however, the moth somehow stayed in place long enough to produce this image with a large format macro lens. Due to the large camera, the image contains a great deal of detail. | |
